Dear Parents,

This has been a super week for students and staff!  On Tuesday we had our annual Laps for Lanai run and it was incredible!  All our students ran with enthusiasm and pride as they were cheered on by their buddies, staff and parents!  Our fifth graders and Coach were surprised during the last lap of the day when the entire school came out to cheer them on - honoring their last Laps for Lanai run!  Student Council President, Nicole, gave Coach a box filled with cards from students letting him know how much they’ve enjoyed PE, and all the other cool stuff he does with them!

The entire week, during Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, everyone at Lanai has been celebrated and thanked for all they do each day!  Flowers on Monday, cards on Tuesday, fruit on Wednesday, a super-yummy lunch on Thursday and custom, Lanai socks on Friday, made for an amazing week!  Our entire staff thanks you for your support and love - Lanai wouldn’t be the wonderful place it is without you!

I want to commend all our candidates who ran for Student Council.  They worked hard on their creative posters and speeches! Congratulations to our new student council reps: Sasha, Kiki, Sam, Addison, Mila, Georgie, Sol, Sam, Isabella, Sienna, Hannah, and Jonathan.   President Gabby and V.P. Lili. We know they will serve Lanai well. In addition, there are opportunities for ALL students to participate in many other committees and we welcome every student’s participation at school!

On a final note, many of you know that we are in the midst of arranging the new classes for next year. Please know that your child’s teacher knows your child best and will make every attempt to place him/her in the class that is best.  Some of the things considered when building the classes each year include: English Language status, Special Education, GATE status, friendships, behavior concerns and academic balance.  If there is additional information that is helpful for your child’s current teacher, please contact him/her. Otherwise please know, each teacher puts much consideration into the placement of their students.
